In our Improver session, you’ll get ready to get into the water with the board. Do you want to get fit for kiteboarding on waist-deep waters? Then the improver level is the right place for you. Here you will improve your abilities from the Starter session and acquire new skills for our progressive lesson.
Ideal for all those who have already successfully introduced their first kite pilot from flying one-handed to relaunch and landing as a pilot and now are ready to get into the water.

Lessons prioritise safety procedures, focus on kite control, safety systems, and rescue techniques, while providing personalised attention.

Lesson itinerary at a glance
Ideal for anyone who has already piloted the kite successfully — from flying one-handed to relaunching and landing — and is now ready to take their first steps into the water.
At this level, you’ll build confidence handling the kite while moving, entering and exiting the water, and practising essential skills like body-dragging and water relaunch. It’s about gaining control, step by step, and preparing for your first rides with the board.
Spot, environment, activity assessments
Learn to check the basics of weather and tide before each session and monitor them throughout your session, equipment and spot conditions.
Trim introduction
Learn how to adjust your kite’s trim to control power and depower the kite effectively. Understand when and why to use the depower for safer and smoother riding.
Walk while flying the kite
Practice walking upwind and downwind while flying the kite. Improve your kite control and coordination on the move, preparing you for launching and landing in different spots.
Wind window theory
Learn how the kite’s position affects power, how to find the power zone, and how to stay safe by piloting within the correct areas.
Let go of the bar
Learn how and when to safely let go of the control bar to reduce the kite's power instantly.
Enter and exit the water while controlling the kite
Develop the ability to smoothly enter and exit the water while keeping the kite stable and under control.
Self-rescue & water relaunch
Practice securing and packing down your lines while afloat, and use the kite to help you return safely to shore. Master the technique of relaunching your kite from the water. Practice recovering the kite quickly and safely so you can keep riding.
Setup packing
Properly pack down and store your kiteboarding equipment to protect it and ensure it’s ready for your next session. Get practical tips for handling lines, kite, and bar.

Preconditions
Please check whether you fulfil the following requirements before booking.
First piloting and wind window control
You should already feel confident with basic kite piloting and know how to fly the kite at the edge of the wind window.
Safe one-handed handling on land
You must be able to handle the kite safely with one hand on land to adjust trim and control power.
Self-rescue and safety procedures
You should understand the basic self-rescue procedure and know how to operate all safety systems.
Age requirements
Suitable for participants aged 12 and older. A legal guardian’s signature is required for all participants under 18.
Swimming ability
You must be able to swim at least 20 meters and feel comfortable in open water and light waves.
Health requirements
Ensure you are free from any acute injuries or illnesses to participate in the lesson safely.
