Take your riding to the next level. The Independent Kiteboarder Course is designed for students who are ready to go beyond the basics. You’ll gain the skills and confidence to ride longer distances, manage your speed, and control your kite in a variety of situations. We’ll focus on improving your start, riding techinique, and introducing more advanced safety and self-management practices.

By the end of the course, you’ll be on track to ride upwind, relaunch on water, and enjoy true freedom.

Start your progression with a strong focus on improving your water start, steady-pull position, and controlled stops.

Day one

Day one

The first day of the Independent course focuses on perfecting your water start with a solid steady-pull position, getting you up and riding consistently. You'll practice controlled stops, smooth transitions, and how to relaunch your kite from the water confidently. These skills ensure you feel comfortable and in control while managing different conditions on your own.

Ride upwind & independence.

Your lesson takes you further: learn to control your speed by edging, ride upwind, and self-launch.

Day two

Day two

On the second day, you’ll build the skills that make you truly independent on the water. You’ll learn to control your speed by edging, ride upwind effectively, and self-launch when needed. To finish, you’ll cover kiteboarding etiquette and essential safety tips to ride responsibly, confidently, and with respect for others at your spot.

You can walk into and out of the water while keeping your kite steady and under full control, even in changing wind conditions.

Body-drag upwind

Body-drag upwind

You can steer your kite and use your body position to body-drag effectively upwind, allowing you to recover your board or reach a specific point in the water

Body-drag with the board

Body-drag with the board

You can hold your board while body-dragging, keeping the kite stable and positioning yourself properly for a smooth water start.

Age requirements

Age requirements

Suitable for all participants aged 12 and older. Children aged 8-11 can join the Kids lesson instead. A legal guardian's signature is required for all participants under 18.

Swimming ability

Swimming ability

Participants must be able to swim at least 20 meters and feel comfortable in open water and light waves.

Health requirements
